“Coaching” is an important tool in any leader’s toolkit as we become more aware of the intentionality needed to shape our own development journeys and grow into leaders that can maximize our impact through high performing teams.  It is no coincidence that the growth of the coaching industry reflects this new awareness and need. The question becomes with so many options, how do you pick the right coach?

I have had the privilege of working with Brenda Morris over the last several months.  We first connected when I decided to take sabbatical to crystalize my next professional chapter.  During our first meeting, Brenda made it clear that we would not approach the question to “what’s next” tactically.  Rather, she would push me to step back and think through bigger questions around my values and life goals. The beauty in this approach is that the final framework I authored would have a consistent narrative from my personal to professional life.  I now have a clear articulation of my personal brand (my mission, vision and road map) that integrates my professional aspiration with my personal life. It’s a tight brief that allows me to make thoughtful decisions.  

The other invaluable aspect of Brenda’s coaching is how she blends her life plan philosophy with her insights as a leader and professional who is currently at the apex of her career.  She provides perspective that feels current and topical to all the many challenges and questions leaders need to navigate today. As I was working through my larger questions about my life plan, I was also able to leverage Brenda as a sounding board on how I address some of my day-to-day challenges as I finish one chapter and begin another.
